PHILIPS - Alarm clock - 'WAKE UP LIGHT'

Philips research has been proven that nine out of ten people struggle to get out of bed by the abrupt sound of an alarm clock. With the Wake-Up light Philips was the first to develop and introduce a dawn simulator to gently wake the body the way nature intended, with light. Half an hour before the required wake up, light from an energy saving light bulb starts to be emitted gradually which gently wakes up the body. At the awaking moment music or natural sounds play and gives a more refreshed and alert feeling opening the eyes.

Kitchen Aid’s integrated in-sink dishwasher is a well designed discrete and practical solution that can wash and dry small loads in 30 minutes. By its innovative concept it is an important space saver in smaller kitchens. Compared to traditional appliances, the In-Sink Dishwasher saves 20% water and 30% energy resources. BOMBARDIER TRANSPORTATION - Light rail vehicle ‘Flexity Outlook’

For the Brussels transport company (STIB) Bombardier developed and manufactured 170 bi-directional trams. Showing respect for the customer was key: utilisation of space, indirect lighting, rich materials and the color scheme are part of this. The best example to illustrate this approach is the use of leather for the upholstery of the seats, which also reduces substantially vandalism. The design language refers to Brussels history and architecture, in particular to the Art Nouveau heritage of the city.
